NORTH HANOVER TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT
VACANCY NOTICE
SCHOOL NURSE FULL TIME
10 Month Position
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid and current New Jersey State License to practice as a registered nurse.
2. New Jersey Certificate School Nurse
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conduct school health service, review immunization records, test for hearing and vision, and assist with physical examinations.
2. Assume responsibility for selecting and referral of students in need of medical and dental care.
3. Communicate with parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on school medical matters.
4. Maintain up-to-date cumulative health records.
5. Observe students on a regular basis to detect health needs.
6. Assume authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered injury or emergency illness. Administer first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures.
7. Contact or visit student homes when necessary or referred by principal.
8. Participate with school staff in developing and implementing overall health program.
9. Prepare and submit required State Department reports for the Superintendent.
10. Recommend the exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases.
11. Keep administration advised of unusual health matters or problems in the school district or community.
12. Advise teachers on health matters, particularly regarding screening for student health defects.
13. Assist school personnel in establishing sanitary conditions in school.
14. Perform such other tasks and duties and assume such other responsibilities as the building principal or other administrative personnel may require.
