About the position

The Per Diem Substitute School Nurse position is designed for registered nurses (RNs) who are looking to provide temporary nursing services within the Wayne Township Public Schools. This role is essential in ensuring the health and safety of students while they are in school. The nurse will be responsible for implementing health care plans, managing student health records, and providing first aid and emergency care as needed. The position requires a current New Jersey RN license and certification in AED/CPR. Additionally, applicants must obtain a substitute nurse certification to be eligible for this role. The nurse will work under the guidance of the Building Principal and will be expected to maintain a professional demeanor while interacting with students, parents, and staff. The role is critical in supporting the educational environment by ensuring that students’ health needs are met promptly and effectively. As a Per Diem Substitute School Nurse, the individual will be called upon to fill in for regular school nurses on an as-needed basis, which may vary from day to day. This flexibility allows for a dynamic work environment where the nurse can engage with different student populations and school settings. The nurse will be expected to adhere to all district policies and procedures, maintain accurate health records, and communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student health issues. The position is vital in promoting a healthy school environment and ensuring that students are fit to learn and participate in school activities.

Requirements
• Current New Jersey RN license.
