Manager, Leave Management Unit
On Site (not hybrid)
Full-Time
HSS seeks an experienced and results oriented Manager for its Leave Management Unit. In this highly visible and customer driven role, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the Leave Management Unit, while ensuring regulatory compliance with various Federal, State and Local laws regarding FMLA, state guaranteed leaves of absence, disability accommodation and benefit administration related to leaves of absence. You will serve as a point of escalation for leave related accommodation concerns. You will monitor practices to confirm that employees on Leaves of Absence are paid appropriately per applicable law and policy, and you will conduct periodic audits re payroll and other practices. You will ensure timely responses to employees and departmental leaders regarding Leave requests/inquiries. You will serve as the point of contact regarding concerns re Leave Management process and will be responsible for executing change re process, policy or initiating process improvement. You will work closely with colleagues in the Employee Relations and the Human Resources Department regarding escalated concerns. You will remain current on industry trends and best practices regarding leave management and accommodation. You will update policies to remain compliant with changing legislation.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years HR Management experience ( HR Manager/Director; Manager/Director of Employee Relations; Manager/Director of Benefits) with a significant experience working with employees and managers re Leave Management and Disability Accommodation; Supervisory experience is required; Candidates must have a thorough knowledge of FMLA, ADA, NY State Sick Time Laws, HIPPAA, COBRA, etc; Proficiency in Excel required; Prior experience working with HRIS systems required and payroll experience strongly preferred; Candidate must possess excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills.
Bachelor’s degree Required.
